Antarctica experience

This is a creative proposal in response to climate crisis. My concept is to bring the spectacle of the oceanic map—with Antarctica at its center—to life through responsive animation and live visual effects to be projected on the map and on the floor. This would be a new media installation designed to engage all audiences, the exhibit would be especially captivating for visitors with children due to its interactive elements that encourage play and discovery while maintaining a scientific tone.

View on the map with a perspective of Antarctica being at the center

An eye-level perspective on the ocean that Allows visitors to “walk” across the landscape

By combining these viewpoints with immersive textures and layered visual effects, the installation aims to make Antarctica feel more tangible—sparking curiosity and emotional connection to issues like climate change.

I started with a stock image of an Antarctica map where the image was clear but the text was blurry, so I retouched it in Photoshop. I then generated oceanic wave visuals in TouchDesigner and composited them with the map directly in the program. Finally, I introduced interactivity to the design and projected it. The purpose of making the waves respond to cursor movement was to creatively represent how human actions impact the climate.
